Abstract:This article aims to recognize potential benefit segments by examining the profiles of rural tourists in two Scottish locations. The results of an exploratory study show that the tourists can be segmented into four clusters: the Actives, the Relaxers, the Gazers and the Rurals. It is found that only some of the rural tourists are actually interested in rural life. Most of the tourists have chosen the rural location mainly due to broader attractive features such as naturalness, scenery, culture, and activities.
