Abstract:This article discusses the power relationship btw. chief executive officers (CEOs) and their boards examining the organizational governance of British symphony orchestras. The processes through which CEOs influence their boards are identified as following: exploitation of relationships developed with key directors and stakeholders, impression- and information management, and the protection of formal authority.
