Abstract:The article distinguishes btw. two different approaches to corporate social responsibility (as: CSR): 'responsive CSR' agreeing to values promoted by media etc. and 'autonomous CSR' selecting values compatible with company strategy and an efficient market. This article indicates a need for less of a marketing emphasis regarding CSR ambitions and more academic scepticism to put these suggestions under scrutiny. Autonomous CSR appears to have more to recommend it.
