Abstract: | This paper discusses economic compensation through litigation, and the possibility and desirability of reversing the trend. European companies are increasingly involved in this because of globalization. The greed of lawyers and plaintiffs can mobilize the perceived virtue of sympathizing with a victim. It seems likely that a precondition for tort reform is an ethical reevaluation. |
