Abstract: | People's communicative (here as: comm-e.) practices and information-handling behaviours (as: beh./behs.) have been modified by global developments etc. in information and communication (as: comm./comms.) technology (as: ICT). This article aims at giving an analytical description of the underlying structure of the field of all forms of comms., using structuring semantic oppositions (as: opps.) explaining strategies and norms governing people's comm-e. beh. A framework is built on the semantic dichotomies as: public / private, public / non-public, direct / mediated wherein each field is defined according to the opps. which constitute one aspect of a complex theory of comms. covering all forms of comm. from personal to mass media etc. |
