Abstract: | This paper proposes that corporate longevity (hereafter as: corp-lgvt.) depends on matching cycles of autonomous (here as: autm.) and induced strategy processes (as: procs.) to different forms of strategic dynamics and that alert strategic leadership's (here as: str-l-ship.) role is to balance appropriately the induced and autm. procs. throughout the cycles. It is also proposed that such str-l-ship. is the means through which l-ship. style exerts its influence on corp-lgvt. The paper's findings can be related to organizational research on structural inertia, adaptation and learning, and also to formal theories of complex adaptive systems. |
