Abstract: | In this paper the authors study the role of university students in attracting friends and relatives as visitors to their university. The authors conduct a questionnaire survey at an UK university, which is presented in the context of general UK tourism and the visits to friends and relatives (VFR) in particular. The study concludes possible marketing opportunities and finds that students themselves represent the most significant target for promotion efforts. The authors also point out opportunity for extending day visits into overnight stays, especially in the relatives segment. |
