| Abstract: | This paper reports on a critical analysis which explored journal ranking and citation analysis practices from the perspective of tourism studies. Current systems, like Journal Citation Reports produced by Social Science Citation Index, CAB International and others, do not fulfill different demands. The paper provides generalized useful suggestions to develop alternative ranking and evaluation methods for tourism and hospitality journals, for example paying attention to the scope, influence, relevance and quality of journals. |
