| Abstract: | This article tests four hypotheses to gain a better understanding about the political conditions development of the new European Union countries. The case study presented in this research is Slovakia, which became a member of EU in 2004. The comparison of rationalist and constructivist approaches to evaluate the performance of Slovakia pays particular attention on the post-accession compliance of the political standards of EU. |
