Abstract: | This paper deals with an exploratory study of the role of concept mapping techniques for assessing knowledge manager (here as: KMgr/s.) learning needs and developing knowledge management (KM) training programs and courses. Based on data collected through seven concept map templates from 13 KM students during a 15-week higher education course, it is found that concept maps can provide a useful real-time feedback mechanism for KMgr/s. participating in structured learning, while enabling instructors to define what KM practitioners require from their training and education. KMgr/s. are also shown to require a balance of foundational KM principles, concepts and methods with examples of real-world implementations, tools and measures. |
