Abstract: | Based on the Cranet data set, this paper analyses the relationship btw. human resource management (HRM) practices (henceforth as: prcts.) and discovered firm performance in over 3,280 firms located in the countries of the European Union (EU). A factor analysis of 80 different HRM prcts. resulted in 15 bundles of HRM prcts., categorized further to be either 'calculative', 'collaborative' or 'intermediary'. The resulting analysis indicates that while five out of the six calculative prcts. and two of the three intermediary prcts. have a significant impact on performance, none of the six collaborative prcts. has. The overall effect of HRM on performance was relatively modest. |
