Abstract:The purpose of the article is to understand seasonal workers' work motivation at a ski-resort situated in Sweden. Herzberg's two-factor theory of work motivation is tested empirically. The study is based on data from questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The results support Herzberg's two-factor theory and show that migrant workers were less worried about wage levels and more concerned about meeting new people than resident workers. The article suggests that managers of tourism business should consider that seasonal workers divide up subgroups, which have different needs.
