Abstract:The importance of the human factor in the information system life cycle is illustrated by its larger costs of an organizations computing budget than either hardware or software purchases. The costs of internally developed application systems consistently exceed their initial resource requirements estimates, and there is a severe backlog in the number of desired computer applications that management information systems departments can provide to their organizations personnel. Any effort to solve these problems must address the important human factor.
