| Abstract: | Meso level energy conservation initiatives, operating at the spacial scale of cities or below, have been relatively neglected on the part of the energy policy research community as a whole. However, though individually small in scale, in aggregate and with effective replication, their impact could be very substantial indeed. Stock is taken from five different local energy conservation initiatives, and their varying nature is evaluated. Specific policy-related research needs can be identified, like wider awareness of the varied nature of the initiatives, systematic assessment of their achievements, dissemination of their experiences, etc. |
