Abstract: | A software architecture for developing a knowledge-based model management system and a graph-based mechanism for constructing larger models from smaller building blocks are presented. The architecture is composed of three major functional modules: a model utilization subsystem, a modeling subsystem, and an inference engine. The framework includes a graph-based model representation scheme and mechanisms for model integration and selection. Development of this approach indicates the feasibility of automating the modeling process. A prototype is described to illustrate the graph-based approach. Sample sessions are also presented. |
