Abstract:The economic and societal effects of new computer-aided systems have been widely discussed in the literature. Labor substitutability of industrial robots were however arbitrarily given. The macroeconomical benefits of industrial robots in the manufacturing industries are evaluated by an econometric method based on national-level statistics. By comparing the estimated empirical results with factory-level survey data, one can verify the compatibility of the macro-level model with the micro-level survey results. The described results are shown to be quite compatible with factory-level data. Although the described simulation model is preliminary, its method may be helpful to determine future robotization.
