Abstract:Business schools are subsystems of the university and the larger society and as such reflect the traditional values, structure and practices of the nations traditional business hierarchy and culture. Academia in the United States has been managed increasingly by professional university administrators and trustees who all too often employ traditional business practices and espouse traditional business values. The Charter Initiative on management development in the UK has received much support and much criticism. There is no best way to educate managers and even informal certification should be avoided.
