| Abstract: | The results of an investigation into the meaning of working, conducted in the first half of the eighties, are summarized. In a recent study the work-related value orientations of temporary employed people were examined. As an aid to the analysis a theoretical model of temporary employment has been developed. Using the survey data international comparisons are made. It is shown that among the motives of undertaking temporary work neither a striving after too much money nor the ambition to make a quick career has a decisive influence. Much more important factors proved to be the following ones: the job content, the job satisfaction, work involvement and opportunities for identification, and the social context of work. |
