| Abstract: | Many companies have practically stopped checking references of job applicants. Some former employers are reluctant to reveal any significant information for fear that their exemployees subsequently will sue them for invasion of privacy or defamation of character. Some companies have been sued for failing to check references of job applicants who, after being hired, committed some type of crime that caused injury or death to another employee. |
