| Abstract: | Broadcast systems are becoming privatized in many countries and cable and other multichannel video technologies are introduced. The main facts of world trade in TV programmes are discussed and the historical dominance of US programme trade is outlined. The possible effects of privatization and new technologies are dealt with. |
