| Abstract: | On Sept 1,1988 the Federal Communications Commission /FCC/ set some initial technical guidelines for HDTV. The next step is to set full standards. FCC says terrestrial broadcasting will remain the main carrier. The U.S. system must use only existing TV channels. HDTV will have an impact on all electronics and communications industries. Philips has designed a system compatible with existing sets, transmitters, VCRs and movies. |
