Abstract:Channel 4 chief executive Michael Grade stressed the importance of a guarantied fall-back income for the channel to protect its remit if it has sold its own airtime. Grade said C4 wanted to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the ITC /Independent Television Commission/. Grade said C4 needed a close relationship with the new C3 network to prevent the BBC gaining dramatically in viewing share because of the fragmentation of the commercial sector.
