Abstract:C- band satellites have long been the standard for distribution of cable programming.Though there have been some challenges from KU band technology, Hughes Communications, with FCC approval , has embarked on a clean endorsement of C-band technology for occasional use and leased capacity for video. FCC has approved replacement for Hughes' Galaxy I, II and III, also in C-band. Hughes has recently gained control of Wester III,IV, and V satellites, all of which are C-band.
