Abstract: | Recent simulation-based studies of LP models for discriminant analysis have applied the Fisher linear discriminant function as a benchmark for parametric methods. The paper reports some experiments showing that some LP models may even be better than the Fisher approach is in classification accuracy, but no tested LP model is as accurate on normally distributed data as the Smith quadratic discriminant function is. |
