| Abstract: | IS (Information System) managers with cash and good credit now have a no-money-down, five-year easy payment lease option with no collateral required. An analysis of this option as a promise of future big-ticket software is presented. Unheard of five years ago, leasing software is quickly becoming acceptable by a growing number of suppliers and their customers. The benefits for users and for software companies are evaluated. Software leases, laws and taxes are summarized. Some current figures on software expenditures point toward the profitability of leasing software. |
