Abstract:Most companies lack in the most basic, fundamental management system - the performance review process. Training is vital to the effectiveness of the performance review process - not just management training, but employee training as well. Managers should be taught to be counsellors, to help others succeed. Employees should be taught to be good communicators and receptive to management suggestions. Management program: negotiate goals with employees, help employees formulate action plans, counsel employees during progress and performance reviews, help employees set development plans, get employees involved and participating, practice active listening.
