Abstract:The understanding of classical science is now increasingly under threat from twentieth century physics. The machine model of organization, familiarized by classical science, is therefore in need of review. Analytical psychology is used as a framework for re-assessing and providing new insights into the nature and management of organizations in contemporary society. The Jungian paradigm with the fundamental dichotomy between consciousness and unconsciousness is described and analyzed. The functions of consciousness are highlighted. The dynamics of unconsciousness in organizational analysis is explained. The notion of "Collective Unconscious" is introduced and examined. Several implications for management are explored.
