Abstract:Although PCs have been taken seriously in the office for years, IS departments and end users are still uncertain how to purchase PCs. However, a few firms are finding a successful middle ground. Those that do have effective policies for their PC buying techniques, share usually eight aspects; they are outlined. PC purchasing channels for large companies are retailers /the absolute leading means/, manufacturers, mail order and other channels. The factor that Local Area Networks plays in PC purchasing is discussed. The case story of Reader's Digest Association of PC purchasing is presented.
