Abstract: | The importance of the host country's public policy for multinational corporations (MNC) has long been stressed, both from the viewpoint of effective government relations programs and political risk management abroad. Analyses of public policy has sprung from the concerns of American MNCs as they tried to cope with the events of the rising strength of OPEC, the possibility of future imitators of OPEC in other commodities, and the Iranian revolution disrupted the operating assumptions of MNCs and governments alike. Recently, a new focus was added to the field: how do non-USA MNCs operate in the American public policy environment? What is their impact on the health of the USA economy? |
