| Abstract: | Considerable changes in the structure of protection were brought about in Turkey by the successive tariff revisions from 1983 through 1989. Both the level and interindustry dispersion of protection has decreased. Nevertheless the structure of protection is not yet conducive to an optimal allocation of resources. Turkish export industries are more heavily protected than import-competing industries. The level of protection in Turkey is still higher than that of Western economies. |
