Abstract:The paper uses four fictional characters to illustrate four dominant research styles in management. The characters are Poirot, Holmes, Maigret and Columbo. To demystify students' concepts on research, we see what can be learned from the great fictional detectives. It will be shown that each possesses both a style and a method of investigation worthy of study.
