Abstract:A model of market dynamics is presented. The model was empirically tested. A structural market analysis, then historical and prospective analysis are used to identify the variables which interact in major changes of the market system. Four dimensions of the market system are examined: context, strategies, structure and value. Based on systems analysis, it is shown that this model is cross fertilizing several disciplines: industrial economics and history, marketing, business strategy and prospective analysis. At the strategic business unit level of the company this method can be used to give direction to the strategic environment scanning system which makes the SBUs' operation more effective.
