Abstract: | The authors examined evaluation of applicants for managerial positions and recommended starting salaries. They hypothesized that managers would use job-relevant and job-irrelevant variables in evaluation, the managers' selection decision models would involve configural cue processing, managers' demographic characteristics would affect their evaluations of applicants for managerial positions, and applicant sex and race would affect starting salary recommendations. Their results supported four of these hypotheses. |
