Abstract:Taking over the controls of a company at a time of crisis plunges the decision-maker into a turbulent succession of pressing but conflicting demands. E.g. at employment agency Blue Arrow, the events involved corporate scandal connected with the stock market crash and its chief executive's efforts to reduce debt. To clarify the case of the management of Bestwood at the initiative of its adviser an inquiry was announced into the firm. There are always a number of issues crying out for attention for anyone taking over a hot seat. It may be necessary to reshape management, rectify strategic mistakes, cut costs and reduce gearing, and, most importantly, restore confidence among shareholders.
