Abstract:Carat Entertainment, the wing of the biggest French media buyer Carat Espace took a 50% share in British independent production company, Crossbow and Cinema Verity. It represents the beginning of a 3 to 5 year investment plan in independent production, barter, distribution, and co-production.It is negotiating with other countries including France, Spain, Germany and the U.K. Carat will have to fight against European hostility to barter. It must prove that ad-supported programming does not necessarily mean low-quality.
