Abstract:For a long time, economy and technology have had few points of contact. From the protestant point of view, this meant examining to what extent contributions to the business ethics debate can be derived from the works of the reformer Martin Luther. The Christian view that the foremost in human life is salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ and only in second place, the sensible organisation of life, put quite a few economic priorities in the interest of Christian charity. In this respect, Christian business ethics must be a "corrective instrument against economic and market failure". Yet, on the other hand, from Luther's point of view, the direct relation to God also makes it possible to rouse motivational forces.
