Abstract: | The exhibition organizer firm, Blenheim has done well to start the 1990s in a very good shape as a fast-growing, acquisitive business. The company now organises a total of 250 events in nine countries, in industry sectors from building construction to hotel and catering and information technology. The success story of Blenheim is analyzed, and some key features are identified. Any expansion outside the UK is directed by experienced local entrepreneurs, known as parallel partners. They are tied to the group by equity and have complete autonomy in their domains. By reproducing the most successful shows in other countries and spinning off niche exhibitions from the definitives, Blenheim can create new events at the rate of 10 percent a year. |
