| Abstract: | The Emergence of Electronic Markets from an Economic Perspective. The paper concentrates on the evolution from company information systems to electronic markets. Competition of time is identified as a driving force and various economic factors are considered. Finally, the evolutionary processes are outlined by two industry examples (airlines and banks). |
