Abstract:This article analyses consumer perceptions with regard to the suitability of products to anticipated usage contexts, as well as their influence on purhchase behaviour. Both elements are linked to managerial decision through product design. Two studies were conducted. The first applied correspondence analysis to judgmental data. The second was based on the multinomial logit formulation. Findings indicated that product design explains consumer perceptions about suitability, which affect purchase behaviour.
