Abstract:Usually the general strategic human resource management (SHRM) models include an explanation for the connection between HR and the company’s performance. In order to apply these models to the European transition economies (ETEs) they have to be modified however because of the different internal and external factors affecting there. The authors conduct a conceptual SHRM model for ETES by analyzing the current HRM situation and its context in Slovenia. The model redefines the HR-context, highlights the role of HR-facilitators and clarifies the connection between HR and company performance especially in the ETEs. Issues relating to the empirical validations of the model are discussed and also new ways to implement SHRM in ETEs are considered.
