Abstract:The author investigated the interactions between sales clerks and customers. He coded clerk emotional behavior, clerk sex, the presence of other clerks or other customers and customer sex. He found that sex role socialization may generalize to behavior at work, but he did not find any relationship between work shift and the display of positive emotions.
