Abstract:A Philippine bill wants to regulate operations of broadcast stations during invasion and rebellion. Broadcasters regard it as a violation of press freedom. Senate vests the sole authority to close a broadcast station to the President if he/she thinks it necessary for public safety. Such a case has already occurred when a radio station transmittedĀŠtapes from rebel leaders. Now a heate discussion is going on over the rights of both the government and the broadcasters.
