| Abstract: | Several companies in the USA hope to bid on third-party maintenance business in PC maintenance. The quality of the choice depends on the company's needs. An overview is given on PC maintenance problems and on the optimum choice of maintenance contractors. Questions to be asked of maintenance suppliers are suggested. It is also recommended to set up a PC equipment database. Special problems arise for out-of-warranty equipment maintenance and repair, and for local area network (LAN) service maintenance. Cost estimation guidelines for maintenance are presented. |
