| Abstract: | Two small projects are described, both conducted by the Energy Analysis Research Group of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The primary objective of one project was to construct a powerflow diagram of a large computer centre, while the other project entailed the study of the personal computer as an electric device and to assess its role in the energy economy. Preliminary estimates indicate that in 1988, in Switzerland, electronic equipment consumed about 4 p.c. of the total electricity demand. A considerable rise of this fraction may be expected in the future. |
