Abstract:Taiwan is a place with no names, at least no brand names that ring familiar in Western ears. Japan, of course, has plenty of names that thunder across the world, from Hitachi and Honda to Toshiba and Toyota. But Taiwan has long been an island where workers anonymously toil to produce components and often whole computers that other people put their famous company names on. So listen up. Taiwan now has a big name. It's Acer, a personal computer company that has come on with the force of a typhoon in the past few years.
