Abstract:The array of software now available for personal computers can be bewildering to the novice user. Because large-scale computers have always been expensive and complex to manage, a group of professionals were the only persons authorized to choose the software to be used at an organization. But today personal computers are proliferating in offices and small businesses. Using the microcomputer becomes a challenge to the inexperienced owner. Provided is a framework for understanding the types of software packages now available in the marketplace and the use of the computer to obtain information for decision-making.
