| Abstract: | Large, but partly known stocks, long throughput times, late deliveries, lack of control and unclear responsibility within the logistic chain are factors which successful companies can no longer afford. Efficient monitoring can prove to be a remedy in inadequate situations. It is shown how to build up management systems for logistics. Some optimization problems are identified. The application of segmentation is described. The segmentation matrix technique is presented. Some other methods - ABC analysis, simulation, portfolio analysis - are briefly reviewed. Arguments are provided that logistic management systems must be based on logistic controlling concepts. |
