Abstract:Computers should be used not only to automate but as vehicles to innovate. PC (personal computer) usage in a sales and marketing operation could increase productivity and effectiveness in capital equipment companies in the following areas: 1. communication, 2. document handling and processing, 3. product and market analysis and 4. product and sales management. Opportunities in all four areas are discussed. It is concluded that every capital equipment company can provide better service, more effective sales coverage, better proposals and more accurate estimating through the use of PCs.
