| Abstract: | Companies are spending thousands of dollars for portable PC hardware like laptop computers. But deciding what software to use is an equally important part of the buying decision. A variety of software is currently available around three main areas: utility software to handle many functions unique to portable PCs; communications software to link field PCs with company networks or other office computers; vertical software to more closely integrate portable PCs into a specific environment, such as sales or accounting departments. A list of PC software suppliers that sell MS-DOS packages for portable PC utilization is presented. |
