Abstract:The development of economic, demographic and cultural factors in Austria during the past decade are briefly described, as well as changes in consumption patterns and the way major marketing tools have been used. Special attention is given to the changes caused by Austria's joining of the European Union. Implications for marketing management are drawn by proposing controversial developments to be considered.
